Car air-conditioning diagnosis

Weak cooling in UAE conditions can have several causes, including refrigerant loss, airflow restriction, electrical faults, sensor inputs or compressor-related problems. Adding refrigerant without checking why performance fell may only mask the issue.

Car air-conditioning diagnosis at NK Auto

What an AC assessment should check

The technician may review vent temperature, airflow, system pressures, compressor operation, condenser airflow, visible leaks, cabin filtration and relevant electrical controls. The safe test sequence depends on the refrigerant and system design.

When to stop using the system

Switch the system off and arrange inspection if there is a strong burning smell, smoke, belt noise or obvious component seizure. Water under the vehicle after normal AC use can be condensation, but coloured or oily fluid needs investigation.

Cooling at idle versus on the road

A system that cools while moving but warms at idle can point the technician toward airflow or control checks, while cooling that fades after extended operation may require a different test sequence. Ambient temperature, vent setting and engine condition should be recorded so results can be compared meaningfully.

Cabin comfort also depends on air distribution and humidity removal. A cold pipe or compressor engagement does not by itself prove that the system delivers correct cabin performance.

Leak checks and repair decisions

Refrigerant should not normally need routine topping up in a sealed system. When charge is low, the repair discussion should consider how the leak will be located, whether damaged seals or components are accessible and how the system will be evacuated and charged to specification.

Unapproved stop-leak products can contaminate equipment or hide the true fault. Tell the workshop if any product has previously been added.

Cabin odour and water

Odour may involve a loaded filter, moisture, microbial growth or debris around the intake and evaporator area. Water inside the cabin can arise from drainage, sealing or other body-water paths and should be distinguished from normal condensation under the vehicle.
